Overcoming Trauma, Toxic Stress & Crisis

trauma

A crisis can be an instigator of change. It can call change up in your life, and show you what is not working so you can understand the situation better and make improvements. A crisis takes many forms. It is a breakup with a friend or loved one. It’s separation from a home or a familiar place. It’s not having a home or not feeling at home. It’s violence. It’s despair. It’s emotional turmoil and instability. It’s not knowing what to do, how you feel, and what you may need to get you through. Our work is to catch a crisis before it happens and to manage the crisis that you are in. It’s also about getting underneath a crisis, for solidity and support, and doing the heavy lifting together and with numerous streams of support to help you lift what before was an insurmountable pressure and dominating force.

Fully 70% of adults in America have experienced a life-threatening incident or illness, physical or sexual assault, or a devastating loss at some point in their lives. Sometimes, the fear and helplessness experienced during the event stay with us long after the danger has passed, interfering with our ability to live fully and confidently. Modern research in trauma and PTSD has revealed much about the way this trauma is stored in the brain and the body. Mindful attention to how this affects us mentally and physically can bring about deep healing and personal growth.

Our approach to crisis & trauma treatment can help you:
